Not sure how to choose your makeup look? Here are some points that you should raise to your Makeup Artist.
OCCASION
Not sure how to choose your makeup look? Consider the occasion you're getting the makeup done for. Is it a formal event like a wedding, ball, formal, or casual outing? The makeup style can vary greatly based on the occasion and whether it’s a day or night event. This is one of the most important things when deciding what to choose for your makeup look.
PERSONAL PREFERENCE
Communicate your preferences to your makeup artist. Do you prefer a natural look or something more dramatic? Clients who wear minimal makeup daily will interpret "soft glam" differently than clients who regularly wear heavier makeup. There are many interpretations of makeup looks, and you need to settle on a look that combines your inspiration and preferences.
SKIN TYPE
Make sure to inform your makeup artist about your skin type (dry, oily, combination), allergies and any skin concerns you have (acne, sensitivity, etc.). This will help them choose products that work well with your skin.
COLOUR PREFERENCE
Let your makeup artist know if you have any colour preferences or if there are certain shades you'd like to incorporate into your look. The same goes for matte or shimmery eyes and dewy or matte skin.
OUTFIT
Consider the outfit you'll wear and how you want your makeup to complement it. The makeup should work with your clothing style and colour scheme.
PHOTOGRAPHY
If the event involves photography, remember that makeup can look different in photos than in person. Discuss any adjustments needed for photography with your makeup artist.
TIME
Consider how much time you have for the makeup application. If it's a time-sensitive event, communicate this to your makeup artist so they can plan accordingly. Professional makeup will last all day!
COMFORT
Lastly, make sure you feel comfortable with the makeup look. If there's anything you're unsure about or if you want something changed, don't hesitate to communicate with the makeup artist
Please speak up!
As makeup artists, the most important thing to us is your comfort. We would much rather you speak up and ask for changes then walk out unhappy. This is our job and we are so used to changes!
